I love the George Hamilton Green exercises. I had to purchase this book again since someone stole my copy at a drum corps show. Unfortunately, the way Amazon stores their books, it was dog eared at the corners. It must be Amazon since I ordered two different books from two different locations and they both came to me in similar conditions. It would also be nicer if the book was bound a different way since you have to bend the pages back to keep it open on the stand.So I would say 2 stars for the seller/shipping. 5 stars for the actual exercises/book. This one is engraved, unlike the New Series. They're fun to play, fun to teach and works great on your dexterity skills. My teacher showed me these exercises when I was in high school and I still play them to this day. When I started teaching pit at a high school, I showed my kids these exercises and they loved them as much as I did. These exercises really helped me with double stop / single stroke accuracies.
It is impossible to read this book on Kindle for PC. Amazon should be ashamed for disabling this feature on Kindle for PC.
I am not a percussionist so this review is not very thorough. My 14yo daughter's teacher was excellent and used only this book. She polished a marimba piece and earned a superior at a solo festival. Mind you, she started with 4yrs of piano and her mom (me) has a BM in piano.
Good value and great for beginning xylophone players. Bought this for a student and we love it! So great to buy used and book is like new!
